RE: Beechwood House / Aderyn in Penperlleni
I write further to my acknowledgement of your letter delivered to Healthcare Inspectorate Wales by email on 31 August 2006 and your subsequent message of 14th September 2006.
The determination of the application by Partnerships in Care to vary the conditions of registration is yet to be concluded. Determining an application for variation involves a number of activities including site visits by other agencies/specialist advisors. These can take place over several days and depending on the outcome varying periods of time. The recording of the decision is made through Statutory Notices and not through a public inspection report. These Notices will indicate that the organisation has met the Private and Voluntary Healthcare (Wales) Regulations and the national minimum standards, copies of which can be located on www.hiw.org.uk.
Unfortunately I am unable to advise you of the length of time before the decision is made as HIW have requested further evidence from Partnerships in Care.
You have requested written confirmation of the individual who is ultimately responsible should any incident occur following registration. Under the Care Standards Act 2000 and subsequent regulations the responsible individual is Mr Steven Woolgar, Partnership in Care Ltd, Kneesworth House Hospital, Bassingbourn-Cwm-Kneesworth, Hertfordshire, S68 5JP. The proposed Manager of Aderyn is Mr Barry Crosbie, whose address is currently Registered Manager, Llanarth Court, Raglan, Usk, Monmouthshire.
I will advise you on the outcome of the determination. However if the application to vary conditions is granted, Partnerships in Care may admit patients from the decision date.
Yours sincerely,
Helen Nethercott
Independent Healthcare Inspection Manager (Mental Health)
