Dear Ms Hart,
It was good to see that you have raised concerns over the policy re the
'open' prison at Prescoed.
I'm not sure if you are aware but Partnerships in Care Ltd also plan to
open a new 'OPEN' ward for mental health patients adjacent to the Goytre
Fawr Primary School (NP4 0AH), Monmouthshire (only 2 miles from
Prescoed). They have promised not to house any sex offenders, but we
understand that patients convicted of murder, manslaughter, gbh and drug
offenders etc., will all be housed there. This is obviously of concern
to all within the village - especially with a private commercial
organisation in charge.
Personally, we also have another concern - as my parents house is
located within the grounds to this proposed facility, and we have not
received any assurance off PIC to allay our fears over the safety of our
children playing in their grand parents garden.
The residents of the village have been campaigning against this proposal
for months, but it would appear that there is nothing that can be done
to prevent this from going ahead - despite our objections to Health
Inspectorate Wales.
Can you lead a hand? And perhaps ask for an enquiry to be held over this
too.
