
Picture released of prison absconder
PEOPLE are being warned not to approach another prisoner who absconded from Prescoed open prison yesterday ) - a man described as a "potential risk".
Barry Francis Bowyer, aged 32, went missing from the controversial open prison yesterday evening, the eleventh prisoner to do so in recent months.
Bowyer, who was convicted of robbery and assault at Northampton Crown Court in 2004, is described as white, 1.77 metres in height, with brown hair and medium build. He has tattoos on both shoulders.
Inspector Gareth Beak, of Gwent Police, said: "It is believed there may be a potential risk as Bowyer is no longer in controlled conditions."
He added that he could be in the Newport area and he was believed to have contacts in the area.
Gwent Police have activated its operational plan and dedicated resources are being put in place to find him. They emphasised he is not a registered sex offender and was not serving a life sentence.
Members of the public are advised not to approach him but to contact the police if they see him on 01633 838111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
Another prisoner who absconded on Tuesday, 32-year-old Dale Lent, is also still on the run.
