UPDATE 5TH SEPTEMBER 2006 HELEN OLIVER
Dear friends,
Firstly, please accept my apologies for taking so long to get this information on the internet for you.
As this is my first attempt at putting information on a web site like this (referred to as blogging!) the organisation of the information on this site (i.e. the fact that it doesn't come in relevant date order), is not ideal, so please bear with me!
If anyone has any information they wish to share please get in touch.
If you wish to be added to email circulation on this issues (or know of others who do) please let me know, and will take appropriate steps. Currently this should be seen by all the Beechwood Action Group members as well as the Beechwood email group.
Since the General Meeting, several members of the action group have been hard at work on behalf of the community, and hopefully with your continued support.
The situation is that Beechwood House is currently undergoing an inspection with Health Care Inspectorate Wales, who have promised to give consideration to the location of this facility. When this is completed we will request a copy of their report under the Freedom of Information Act.
I do hold a hard copy of the previous Inspection (it’s a lengthy document!) which anyone can request, (alternatively you can just borrow mine!).
We have made contact with the Police, several Politicians, The Home Office and numerous other bodies seeking advice and guidance, informing them of our concerns.
Last week a letter was received (addressed to Cllr Bryan Jones) from Barrie Crosbie (Partnerships In Care) advising that having listened to the concerns of residents, they ((Partnerships In Care) have taken the decision that they shall not be placing sex offenders of ANY kind in the facility.
However, as positive as this may be, I personally have issues with how we will ever have access to proof of this.
As more information comes in I will post it to this blog.
If you have any specific questions please feel free to fire them through the blog, and the Action Group will do their best to find the information for you.
Another issue that we would like to draw to everyone's attention, is the fact that the civil cases are being cared for in amongst the criminally insane. We believe that this is unacceptable, wherever it goes on and should be stopped. I would hate to think if anything happened with anyone that I knew, that their rights would be so little they would end up sharing a care facility with murderers, sex Offenders and the like.
Kindest Regards,
Helen Oliver
